Re: American Fire

I wonder what percentage of the people that approach that sign are just finding out the government is closed?

That's why the Rim fire won't be fully contained until near the end of the month. They have huge tracts to burn out between now and then

Re: American Fire

I was up above Washington today and the American Fire, despite 100% containment, was putting up a pretty good column.

Hemingray recall how slow they were on the Government Fire across the canyon, it's just the way the Forest Circus does things.

I will be teaching another class in October 2012.
If you ever decide to teach one in the future let us know, my Flux Capacitor is all jacked up right now and I don't think I'll be able to have it sorted out in time

It'll only eat what has been fed to it.

Were you able to salvage any of the video or pictures on it before it bit it?

Re: My Miyagi pix

Larry - despite all the snivelling (me included!) about the length of the ride, it was one awesomely cool loop! Plumbago/German Bar Road was worth the price of admission! Thanks for the additional info on Alleghany too. I've been there in my truck, but would like to check it out again. Definitely w...

Re: My Miyagi pix

ALSO - looks like you can get to Alleghany on the other side of Plumbago Road (a.k.a. German Bar Road, I discovered) - there's a serviceable bridge there too. I'm pretty sure it's pavement at Alleghany, but it would be fun to do. It's got a "4WD recommended" sign at the bridge, so it must go up to ...

Re: Moab On the Scoot

Day Four we wanted to run out Highway 128 along the river and ride up "Top of the World" and spend some time up on Dome Plateau. 20 miles out we got blocked by a Marathon in progress so "plan B" took us up through Castle Valley and into the mountains http://www.utvobsession.com/pictures/moab2011-dr...

We continue out the trail wondering when we'll rendezvous with Crawford http://www.utvobsession.com/pictures/moab2011-dr/moab2011-23.jpg Hard to worry about him with this kind of scenery happening all around us http://www.utvobsession.com/pictures/moab2011-dr/moab2011-24.jpg Besides, we know where ...

Re: Moab On the Scoot

Day 3 will be our Big Ride, White Rim Trail in Canyonlands and Long Canyon heading home. This is one of those "Must do rides" but requires a street legal vehicle, and the park service doesn't allow ATV or UTV's even street legal so it's a bike or passenger vehicle trip. 157 Miles for the day! http:...

Day Two we meet Mike from Colorado in town and the four of us ride up to Chicken Corner and out Kane Creek. We logged 71 miles for the day, between sightseeing and a couple lost sheep it was a good day for all. http://www.utvobsession.com/pictures/moab2011-dr/moab2011-chicken.jpg After much coaxing...

Moab On the Scoot

Hooked up with four friends with Dual Sports for a few days in Moab . Completely different experience on bikes, pretty cool being able to ride everywhere without having to trailer. After months of waiting we hit the road for Moab. 900 miles later Rich and I pulled into our home for the week, a nice...

Ok, I don't care if it's pink, this fashionista gives the thumbs up to this product. Especially the way you dress, probably not going to get a lot of people stopping to help once they see the spandex  Dave are you interested in giving the Tour of Idaho a try next summer? http://www.tourofida...

No worries, I saw that and called to be sure. Still, until the $ is in my hand I have to wonder.....I got the impression they're trying to curb the cut rate retailers
