Re: Planning to Make History

Ok, just you all don't get your panties in a bunch the CT70 attempt of the Rubicon will happen this year. I have modified the 77 CT70 with a stroke and bore kit and it's now a CT108. With te right street gearing it would probably hit 60MPH. I will gear it down from stock for the Rubicon run. I have ...

Re: Planning to Make History

Had a malfunction on my first trial on the '77 CT70 on Sunday. It was running great, but then started coughing and backfiring if I gave it much more than idle throttle.

Think I may have messed up a valve.

Re: Planning to Make History

Angelo got me all worried about my mirrors so I have built up a second CT70 to take on the Rubicon. It is green stickered, has a new head, no mirrors or turn signals, geared way low, and has a 1 gallon Rotopax on the rack. I will do some short runs to make sure all is well and then as soon as we get...

Re: Planning to Make History

I did my first shakedown cruise on Saturday. I rode from the cabin to where the dirt road behind Airport Flats Campground ends up. So I started down Wentworth Springs Rd. past the old start of the Rubicon and turned left onto the dirt road. I wanted to see the new bridge that was constructed across ...

Re: Planning to Make History

What the heck Angelo? You think you just slap this type of effort together? That's how people get hurt. I will be making dry runs on Rubicon-like sections of trail next weekend. I need to prepare myself and my machine for the actual attempt. Right now I'm still looking to achieve history sometime in...

Re: Planning to Make History

Ok, I've had some setbacks during trials. Major malfunction. Had to call base for rescue (wife with truck with a bad attitude). I understand great adventurers commonly have to deal with spousal skeptisizm. Whatever. STFU. After several months and mail order deliveries, I am back on track. The CT70 w...

Re: Planning to Make History

Yes, there will be photo documentation.

My maiden voyage of the CT70 is planned for this Saturday as I will be participating in the Nevada City Toy Run with several hundred Harleys.

I will post pictures from the toy run.

Planning to Make History

According to extensive internet research, I have concluded that my plans to navigate the Rubicon Trail will be historic if I am successful. I am sure to be compared to Magellan, Robert Peary, Sir Edmund Hillary, Chuck Lindbergh, etc. I have begun the preparation of my history making machine (my pers...

Re: 7th Annual Mr. Miyagi Ride - Sept 14,15,16 2012

Family obligations, like my mom's 87th birthday, dictate that I will only be able to meet you guys for lunch in Washington on Saturday. What time would be a good target time for you guys to be rolling into Washington?

I have to at least get show up points for my 5th Miyagi Ride.

You ride mtn bikes. You've ridden in the sand before. Imagine riding a mtn bike with slicks in the sand. While wearing a 50lb backpack.

Baja Pics

Well I fianlly got around to posting some of the pictures from our January-February moto trip from San Diego to Cabo San Lucas and back. No quads, but we did some dirt. Starting out in a pissing rain in San Diego. WTF, I though SD was 80 degrees and sunny all year round. http://img.photobucket.com/a...
