Might want to leave a little early, we got 3 feet of snow out of this storm up at 7100' and I imagine the weekend skiers will be all over I-80 in the morning. It took me 2 hours just to clear our deck and the chunk of driveway in front of the garage that the big-boy commercial snow thrower missed. Have fun and don't freeze out there.

Any suggestions on easy snow riding Saturday? We don't have winches or 4x4 on the pickup. We are thinking about Downieville poker flat run on the trails page. I wonder how far we can ride before the snow gets too deep. Does anyone know at what elevation the snow is sticking at? If we could get up high enough to take some side roads and explore a little bit, that might work. Looking at the Topo map it appears to climb above 5000 ft. before you get very far. The Mormon Emigrant Trail area is another area that might work. Any suggestions?

I'm up near the top of Donner Ridge, and we usually get more snow than the surrounding areas. So you could only be looking at a foot or two out at Cisco, who knows.
Hey Traildad, if you do the Downieville ride and make it to Poker Flat, be sure to cross the creek and ride up the other side into Plumas. That's a fun one. Fairly steep and just enough loose rocks to make it interesting and add some bashes to the plates. Stay on Mr. Gas, and no worries. When you get to this sign at the top of the north side, fun is over, and you get to ride back down.
