New TNF Maps Available

I stopped by the Truckee ranger station to pick up my campfire permit and found that they are now selling 2 new maps: National Geographic Trails Illustrated maps covering the whole forest.

These new maps are nice! Full color, including shaded topography, printed on plastic "paper" so they won't get soggy in a rain storm or stream crossing, lat/long grid, trail types are color-coded (horse, bike, OHV, etc.) and the road/trail numbers are shown for most roads/trails. OK, let me correct myself: these new maps are very nice.

One map covers the east side ("Sierra Buttes/Donner Pass") and the other covers the west side ("Yuba & American Rivers"). The maps were $9.95 each at the ranger station.
