I have never bought a atv off of ebay. But I sold my old RZR and old sled on there, bought a enclosed gooseneck w/living qtrs, also sold it later on there. And picked up my sandrail on there.

The guy had a hotshot driver pick up the RZR. Everything else I delivered for a fee or if I bought it drove and picked it up.

I know Ebay is not like Graigslist with all the scammers but really why take the chance? With a little looking on Craiglist and you can find nice quads in your area that you can look at and test ride if you are not in a big rush. Personally I would not buy anything like that site unseen and without the ability to test ride it and give it a good going over.

I agree with Dave...and I bought 2 ATV's off eBay. Great deal....it was a dealer in Tennessee. Getting them shipped was a pain in the ass.

Terry bought his ATV from eBay...a dealer in Memphis, I think. Worked out ok.

Steve (lori's current quad) was bought from Breeze in Chicago on eBay.

But the risk is higher....craiglist...you get to see it, touch it...here it run.

Personally, if you do buy on ebay...is ONLY buy from someone who has feedback for selling an ATV. Most of the scammers...the price is INSANELY low...the ATV has a really good reason for being in England, Demark..where ever...and their feedback is really good, but you look and they sell pezz dispensers and shit.

Some times you may be lucky and see a quad on ebay that is local and if you can contact the person you may be able to buy it from him in person, avoid ebay fees, and test drive it.

You can search a area on ebay. If you are willing to drive 200 miles to go look at and pick up a atv. Put in 200 or whatever you want and your zip code in the boxs

I've bought and sold many things on EBay. I never buy anything for a price that exceeds my threshold to not be totally pissed if the deal goes south.

If you find one you like on ebay you can use an escrow service.

http://pages.ebay.com/help/pay/escrow.html

There is one site that is approved by ebay. I guess for a fee they will take your money and hold it. Then they will pay the seller only when all conditions are met. You set up the deal with the seller where the quad gets shipped to you. If there is a problem you send it back and the escrow service won't give him the money. It would still be expensive to ship it if you didn't want to keep it, but you are not likely to have a total scammer to worry about.

Didn't Terry look into buying a quad from someone in Germany?

Yeah. He was convinced it was legit. His nickname was Terry Reidowitz.

Reidowitz... that's right... a reputation he partly earned by eating hamburgers that he had found somewhere, as I recall. "Hey cool! Free food!"
