How fast do you ride?

Postby The Modfather » Wed Mar 24, 2010 6:42 pm

Kind of a subjective question, but here is why I ask.

Buddy of mine & I went to Nevada. He was on a dirt bike, and I was on my Prairie 700. When I ride, I love to just cruise - 20ish - 30ish. Sometimes I'll get a little frisky and lay onto the throttle, especially on the graded wide open roads. Never longer than 10-20 seconds though. I love being able to see what's around me when I ride, and you really miss a lot when you're blazing thru the trails. My buddy on the other hand really likes to get into it. He has a bike, atv, and a rhino, and I'm not sure if he understands that the throttles on his toys have more than an on/off position.

So what say you? Are you a speed demon? Mellow Yellow? Somewhere in the middle?

Not really goin anywhere with it per se. I haven't really ridden with too many different people, so was just curious to know how others with utility quads ride.

I usally just cruise 30-40. Some of the fire roads I will open it up but it gets a little sketchy when you start pushing 65+.

When you look at the hours on a machine and then check the odometer, it seems like most of the time it's about a 10 mph average.

I like to ride in the desert, when I am on the large smooth roads I ride from 28 to 45 mph, many time we are in a group, so we spread out and let the dust dertemine how fast we go.

it seems like it is easier to go faster on a motorcycle than an atv.

some times it's just WFO........

when i'm with my regular group of rider friends, which usually involves my 10 year old on his POPO Predator90, it's under 30mph, we like to enjoy the sceanery. BUT i love opening up my 800cc beast when i ride with my "go fast" friends. and trust me 72mph seems crazy fast when your on a quad!

You may want to check that with GPS Doesnt your sportman have 26 inch tires stock? I know mine came with 26's. I know my speedo is off by a few mph.
