Postby Ken » Mon Jun 14, 2010 12:11 pm

Just an FYI.

This weekend is the WeRock Rock Crawling event at Donner Ski Ranch. Lori, Jack and I (Kendo said he would go a month or so ago) will be there Saturday.

Snow won't be a problem.

Here's what the course designer sent me.

No need for heaters, very little, and I mean little snow, and the temps have been in the lower 80's to high 70's.

That is some freaky-wild shitake! Your video was hanging on me when I first tried to watch it, but my last FireFox update seems to have solved the problem.

I learned something from the second video: if you ever find yourself perched in the air balancing only on your front tires and it feels like you are going over... give it GAS. Gas seems to be your friend in just about any situation.

Gas works more times than not.

Those guys when they stand the nose up, take the stops out of the tranny, so they can fly immediately into REV and then gun it. On a quad, that's usually not possible, so just letting go of the brake, can often get the rear wheels to free spin you back down.

hi Ken can you expand on that
what does taking the stops out of the tranny? mean?
and i have seen scott ride a scary long nose wheely and his quick use of wide open throttle was able to save him from a front endo!!

thanks.

Have you ever shifted with a manual transmission?

You can't just put it in reverse. Every car is a little different, some you have to push down on the stick, then it will move over. Some, you have move it slightly to "pop" it over. It's a safety feature all cars have, so you don't throw it into reverse by accident downshifting.

Well....they remove the stop or safety feature, so they can throw it into reverse instantly.
