There's still a spot on Loon lake road near Dam 2, with 10 feet.

At Ellis Creek, there's 5 feet in most spots.

so atvs tread lightly in general since we are so light. i wonder what the ratio of winching to riding would be now with all these snow holes. i want to go soo bad i wouldn't mind pulling cable more than normal. but if its ONLY winching then thats no fun.

It's getting too hot, I'm ready for it to snow again. Going to take the sled out on Saturday.
Took the dirt bike out last weekend, the RZR has just been sitting. Maybe in August it will be worth taking out.

Good sign today - saw a Robinson truck going west on I-80 with logs, that means someone is accessing the forest somewhere!

These warm days have really done a number on our snow. If it keeps melting at this rate, I might be able to get the Grizzlies out this weekend. The next problem would be finding somewhere to ride them. Truckee itself has been melted out for a while, but once you start climbing back up to this elevation, you're sure to run into drifts. I guess I could cruise around down by Prosser Reservoir, but the fun trails are either in the forest (shady=snow) or higher in elevation. So... dunno.

Most of my favorite areas have north-facing roads in them, and I'm think the drifted stuff on those is going to take awhile. I'm definitely going to do Soda Springs Road this year - bet that water crossing is pretty high, eh.

The view from here this evening - Duncan Peak on the left, Little Bald Mountain (with Duncan Peak Lookout) on the right.

Thanks - this one is a little bit of a cheat, 300mm telephoto with a crop to be able to see the detail. When I do this, it's hard to believe it's such a long drive up Foresthill Road to Robinson Flat to something I can see so easily! 28 miles as the crow flies in the picture, 51 miles to trailer an ATV to near the peak on the left.
