I downloaded some guides here that talk about some good trails in the High lakes area. you ever been up there to ride? looks like it is only 30 miles or so outside of chico.

DAVE wrote:Hey, Dusty there is tons of stuff around here to ride. I have been doing some exploring between lake Oroville and Bucks lake, looking for old mines and what ever else we can find. was at butte medows about 6 weeks ago to much snow to do much more than play around. looks like you can go all the way to Almanor from butte meadows when looking at the map.

I've been trying to figutre that route out since last summer. I was thinking of going from La Porte to Chester. The hardest part is crossing 70 to get to the high lakes.

when you say crossing Hwy 70 do you mean just crossing for actually ahving to ride up it for a ways and then crossing? what about having to worry about crossing any of the rivers around there?

I think you would have to ride up hwy 70 a little ways. The rivers would be no problem.
