rubicon and fordyce laws?

Postby Kodiak » Tue Jan 25, 2011 4:15 pm

So does anyone have a quick cheat sheet on the laws for rubicon and fordyce i keep hearing about tickets for green stickered rigs for not having insurance and driving on the damn rd blah blah blah.
1. whats the difference in the Cop or rangers mind between and ATV and a Green stickered rock crawler?
2. do we need insurance for crawlers and atvs? if we have them green stickered?
3. how about snow wheeling with no tracks (ken and scott whats the rules)

thanks for your help

green sticker is green sticker . the big debate is yes you have to have insurance on cobine use roads. so if you park at the chalet at loon lake you need to have insurance to ride from there to the dam. check out pirate 4x4 about it. hope this helps. :D hey looking forward to riding with you sometime this year!

ok answering my own ? for those who are in the know please correct me if i summarize this wrong.

Green stickered rigs are ok during non dark hours on the road in ? described here
http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthre ... gn+parking

and if you have a green stickered rig and you do come home late you can get a ticket. atv or jeep

interesting side note if you have an ohv green stickered buggy it appears you don't need mudflaps on a shared use rd. however if you do have a street legal rig with removable mud flaps it looks like you need them on for shared use roads. ( i was a bit confused with this law??)

lastly as far as insurance goes. it appears that green stickered buggys need it and atv's don't. when running off road or on shared use roads.

once again please correct me if im wrong. as its brutally apparent that ignorance will be rewarded with a $450 ticket.

I believe ATV's do need insurance. Post the VC that you see different.

i dont think you could ride at night on the dual use road, but the trail is fine. personaly i think its bullshit lets make a parking lot for you but you cant use it unless your insured ect.whats really crazy is if it wasnt for the guy getting a ticket know one would have ever know about it!!!!! seems the law isnt new at all just never enforced ! not that haveing insurance is a bad thing but when they make you get it seems like another right freedome ect is taken away  sorry for the rant!

I'm with you. The spirit of the dual use in a very remote area is totally lost.

I use to have atv insurance through Tripple A. Not that I don't owe on my atv I canceled it. Mine was around 200 but then went up over 300 So I canceled it. If I can find it cheap I may do it again. I kinda miss having it now that I have so much invested in it with the tracks.

Here's where it gets even sillier......

If you go wheeling on Wentworth Springs road with a Green sticker (where it's unplowed from Stumpy to Ice House)...you legally can't drive from that intersection to the plowing at Airport flat...which is what?? 1 mile tops? In the winter with virtually no traffic.....

It's just a money grab...HEY..let's fawk with the wheelers!!
