North Bloomfield

Postby Rubicon_Rider » Tue Sep 24, 2013 9:29 pm

Has anyone rode to North Bloomfield? Do they allow ATV's through town or would we have to park and walk aways? The Malakoff Diggins looks like it would also be nice to see, we wouldn't want to stay long or pay to walk through the hydraulic mining site, It would be cool to just see the huge cliffs. We would stage in Washington and take Relief Hill Road. I would like to ride to North Bloomfield then to Alleghany then back to Washington if it's not too far.
I know alot of you guys know this area very well so any information would be helpful.

Have tons of photos on this site there.

Going through the Malakoff is a NO NO. We were busted....the guy was nice about it...we went through slow and respectfully.

You have to go AROUND......it.....there is 3/4 of a mile of pavement, to go to Washington.....totally illegal. Done it.....got yelled at by a FS guy.....basically, we went THANKS! and kept going.

We stayed at River Rest last weekend, didnt go to N Bloomfield went to Allegany instead, wasnt sure if we could do both in one day. I think we can make it to both if we dont have people get lost and have to wait then back track.

Of all rides to forget my GPS. But No track to show this ride. But a really good ride is Starting in Washington to Relief Hill to North Bloomfield. Go to the left in town to see the Diggins and on out to Lake City. At Lake City take a Right and go up to the Back Bone and turn left @ the pavement. Down said Rd. about a mile to the first hard back to the right down the Bloody Run Rd. Go about 1.5 miles down the Bloody Run Rd and take a left and follow that rd to the Foots Crossing Rd. The Foots Croosing Rd will take you to Alleghany to make a nice big loop out of your ride.
