Chilcoot to Crystal Peak
Yesterday I did the while-my-Grizzly-in-shop-getting-worked-on ride on my wife's Grizzly. I started just north of Chilcoot where Plumas 24N88 road intersects to the paved road to Frenchman Lake.
This shows the ride area:
The terrain at the beginning was similar to Nevada: sage brush, boulders and a sandy trail. 24N88 is a one-lane dirt road but felt more like 2-track thanks to frequent turns and an undulating surface. Later as it kept climbing, pines began appearing and it felt more like a forest trail:
I stopped to check out Snow Lake which might better be named No Snow Swamp:
There were plenty of wildflowers along the way, especially up high:
I rode on up to Crystal Peak. The views were great, but would have been better without all the haze from the CA fires:
From the look of this tree, it must get real windy up on Crystal Peak:
By the time I went back to Sierra Yamaha to pick up my Grizzly (that I had dropped off just before the ride), the maintenance on it was all done. I was happy. Harry, who runs parts/service, was also happy:
The rest of the Grizzlies were happy:
The helmets were all happy:
The bikes were happy too:
It was a happy, happy day.

I forgot to reset one of my trip odometers, but the GPS track says about 50 miles. The smoke wasn't that bad, but it's a lot worse today.DAVE wrote:how many miles did you ride???
Sierra Yamaha is a great shop. Plenty of gear/rides and Andy out in the service department is second to none. Low prices too.
