Miyagi 2008 - Day 1 - Meadow Lake to Fordyce Creek
Dusty and Jeff could only get away for the day so we decided to meet and ride in from the Bowman lake side.
When Two Worlds Collide Something Has To Give (this is what Dusty was reading when we pulled up)
Once we get to Meadow lake we meet up with Derrick, Wayne, Carrie, Loren, Tim, and Jake. We plan our ride and load up
We head for the Fordyce Trail, destination Fordyce Creek and find our way to the rocks. Jeff takes the easy line at the top of Winch Hill 5
In Terry style Loren slides over a rock, "Gas On"
This gives some indication of how large the rocks are as Dusty drops behind one along the trail
The rest of the groups picks their line as they work down to Winch Hill 4
Jake gets a taste of some real rock crawling
Jeff picks a bad line and the rocks gobble up his Kodiak
As we reach Winch Hill 4 Tim is wondering what he's doing here
Jake eyes the plunge as Jeff stands by with a helping hand
This was Carrie's idea and she seems to be having fun
Jake gets an assist from Loren and Jeff through a technical section
As does Carrie
Larry prepares to ride the "Chute" at the top of Winch Hill 3
Then it's Dusty's turn
Hang On Jake!
And Tim thought Winch Hill 4 was steep
Carrie is all smiles after telling Loren she will drive her quad down
Jeff aims his quad where he wants it to go, gravity does the steering
After keeping everyone else safe on the drop Loren points and shoots over the edge
After 3 tough hours we reach Fordyce Creek
Jake and Tim did great on the way down
After a quick break in the shade we start the trek back
2 hours later, tired and sore we all make it back to the top of Winch Hill 5 (l-r Jeff, Dusty, Larry, Tim, Carrie, Jake, Loren)

Got up there just in time for the Saturday Ride and found this:
The town of Washington later was overrun with obsessive ATVers, after the dustiest dang ride I have ever done. That record was broken 30 minutes later on the ride back UP Gaston Rd...
It was fun to meet many of you!

Miyagi Ride Weekend
We had a great time and it was nice meeting new people this year. I am so glad that we did the Fordyce ride on Friday......great ride and definitely challenged me. I/we survived thanks to Larry, Dusty, Jeff and Loren's assistance. It's all about team work, right! Larry you captured some great pics of the Fordyce ride.
Dave you took some great pic of the town of Washington. I saw a lot of side trails I would like to check out some time.
We look forward to many more rides with you guys. Keep in touch!
Carrie and Loren

I enjoyed the pix of the Fordyce expedition - not sure I could have done that...
The Bowman area has a lot of very cool side roads - some go somewhere cool, others are just log landing cul-de-sacs. One nice one is FR-50, it breaks off Graniteville Rd. just a short distance from that dusty junction that we all blocked. It loops Celina Ridge, first out above Canyon Creek (looking across to Bowman Lake Rd.) then hooks around and joins Gaston Rd. (which is the road to/from Washington). There's an awesome little hidden two track in there too (my profile picture is me coming thru the water on it, thanks to GrizzlyGuy) that pops out on Graniteville Rd.
Also, on the Pinoli Ridge Rd. there are several side roads with spectacular views as well, plus a few that reach down towards the Middle Yuba. This pic looks to Weaver Lake:
The funny thing about Saturday for me is that I hoped to check out some areas around Meadow Lake - towards Muscove Meadow - but instead we went to a well-explored-by-me area. No matter, I love going through there. Maybe next year there coule be two groups - the screaming racers (Gas On!) and the side road explorers (Gas Off!)! I'm looking forward to seeing some more pictures from the weekend (I should have taken more!)

It appears I have been accused of Photo editing and that one of the pictures in question is a fraud. One 'Dangerous Dorny" aka Jeff states that the picture of his quad being "Gobbled Up" is fake.
Exihibt A
Exihibt B
A few seconds later it appears "Dorny" and his quad have met there match as he left the saddle to walk the quad.
Exihibt C for Cooter
Perhaps, one of his skid plates became entangled in the rock or simply failed under the extreme situation!
