I have an old tag (my box had two) for a $9.99 Topo 3D USA. I don't know if it will work, but it's worth a try.

Some day I will need to get some sofeware form mine. I pre ordered the XL and when i finaly got it nothing was avaliavble for it. Then when i was in ID sleding last month it would not turn on in the cold, tried new batts and nothing just a blue screen. Had to pull the batts to turn it off. Now back home its works fine? WTF I don't trust it now, if iam out sledding and need it to mark a sled that breaks, so we can come back and find it again (has happened 2 times in 3 years) I don't want to relie on it, since it has proven to me to not work all the time.

I pre-ordered and it mine came with software, you just have to pay for it. There should have been a DVD in the box. Download the version of Topo 3D from the DVD then register it and the GPS at the Magellan web page. Once you do that you can update the firmware

My garmin worked like shit at sugarpine yesterday. I could barely get 3 satelites... I was in an OPEN area too, I think it was due to the heavy cloud cover. GPS are not endall esp when they don't work

That sounds more like a technology or receiver problem. My Garmin never picked up well, always had to have a wide clear sky shot. My XL can get 6-8 sats sitting on my desk (12'-16' accuracy), and about the same sitting on the center console of my truck. If I have it mounted on the quad it's usually inside 7'

I have a Garmin Nuvi 350 in my car. While I am very happy with it, I have had struggles with it connecting to sattelites. Had I realized how versatile the XL was with street maps, etc, I wouldnt have even bothered with the 350.

I'm extremely impressed with Larry's XL getting sat coverage. I've seen it get Sat signal..in his bag. My older Sport Trak HAS to see the sky.

Interestingly, I got mine on Friday...I went to take the cover off...and the screw on the back, snapped in half. Sending it back.
