Jet Boil - The Ultimate Quad Camping Stove

Postby Ken » Mon Jun 18, 2007 7:36 am

Without a doubt....Jet Boil is the best stove out there for serious camping. This weekend, Lori gave me one and Bill got one for his Birthday and we used the CRAP out of them.

Lori got me, the newer Jet Boil cooking pot. Note: PLEASE REMOVE THE PLASTIC COVER ON THE BOTTOM (right Ryan?) it melts! Bill has the mug and the french press for making coffee.

We used the pot of cooking (boiling water), coffee every morning...and making drinking water. We came up short on drinks for the weekend, and ended up boiling several pots of water and using paper towels to filter big stuff for drinking water. (note: I must get a purifier)

Anyway...I did a review 2 years ago on Jet Boil and it rings more true even today...I will be updating the review to show the cooking pot.

Hmmmm - Jet Boil system - toy hauler - jet boil system - toy hauler, gee that's tough Ken, I dunno.

Purifier has been on my list for some time now. We had one a couple years back up at Fordyce. We were using snow melt that was running straight down the trail for our source. Tasted great!!

I know....I decided on the Jet Boil....lower payments.

Purifier...because abundantly clear this weekend. Bill could have taken more beer....less water. We also got to the Springs...and the 4 bottles we brought, we're enough. A purifier would have been nice to refill 'em.

We got a purifier when we got our quads. We haven't gotten to use it yet but it is nice to know it is there just in case. We chose this one.

It seemed to be the most compact and from what they say it really does the job.

I read your review and was suprised at the low fuel consumption, thats what scairs me about stoves with special fuel needs. I like the idea of the stoves that use white gas or gasoline, dual fuel. it looks like the jet boil works very fast........like to see one in action.

I personally used to use a purifier, but I found that it was more a pain in the butt to keep it sterile (Prevent the water suction end from touching the water output end, so I changed over to Iodine tablets and mix in some crystal lite or some form of flavoring to get over the iodine taste. . .

Never been sick ever with the iodine tablets and I have been in some shady areas. . .
