I had that issue with my old Garmin, and to some extent the Magellan XL. The Triton gets signal EVERYWHERE. I even get signal in my metal roofed shop!! :shock:

I have had mine in my glove box and never had an issue with the signal on my 60CS. Its on a ram mount now and tucks into the pod area quite nicely.

And having said that too - an external antenna (Gilsson makes nice ones) can radically improve the signal strength too. They work especially well for car installations but if you wanted to mount your GPS lower you could put an antenna out on the rack or something.

i havent had it go weak on me yet! but that sounds like something else that would break if it ever rolled! :lol:
