What to carry along???

Postby Wildhorse800 » Sun May 10, 2009 8:28 am

Gonna be placing an order from RMATV.

Looking to fill the cargo box with trail necessary items, i.e. tow strap, jumper cables first aid, etc.

What do you all carry? Any ideas will do...

I've been told I joke around too much.
So one day I tried being serious.
Everybody laughed!

Tow strap, snatch block ( ), tire repair stuff (patches, plugs, air source, vavle stems), rachet strap (you'd be surprised how handy these are), various nuts and bolts, tool kit (rachets, sockets, pliers, screwdrivers), and I usually carry a couple of spare spark plugs.

I also carry things like a lighter, couple of energy bars and first aid kit for emergencies.

folding hand saw
flashlight
plastic garbage bag(s)
small towel
lug nut wrench (just a socket and handle, actually)

Powertank and Plug Kit because you never know when someone will flat!

Image

A fire extinguisher because you never know when someone will have gas pour out of their quad while winching up a cliff!

Image

A first Aid Kit because you never know when someone will fly off of a cliff, roll, and fracture a femur!

Image

A satellite phone, because anything can happen and it usually does just outside of cell coverage.

I forgot about under the seat, where this weekend I found a survival blanket, a poncho, a can of Slime and an inflator. I decided to add a small plastic tarp - in case of rain, something good for just one use.

I try to think about what would happen if I had to overnight even tho I just do day rides in the summer. It gets darned cold at night, even when the days are warm. And - get drenched in a t-storm and things could be really miserable.

Without any problem. The tank pressure for the liquid CO2 is around 800 psi, with the regulator you can get up to 150 psi to the tire.

How do you get that little tank refilled? Just like getting any CO2 tank plumbed up?

The 20 ounce cylinder uses a pin valve like most paintball tanks. Most paintball stores have filling available and it's about $3. If you go with a larger tank like a 2 1/2 lb bottle then you might have to take it to a fire extinguisher shop for filling.

I carry enough to allow me to survive 2-3 days in the wild.

- First Aid kit (bandages, gauze, ointment, etc)
- Water purifying bottle (filter)
- Axe
- Shovel
- Extra 50' winch cable
- Hand saw
- Machete
- Cooking stuff (backpack stove, fuel, backpack pot, etc)
- Dehydrated food (standard Cabelas/MRE stuff)
- Fire starting stuff (matches, lighter, magnesium block)
- Extra box 9mm ammo
- Water (2-3 bottles + 100 ounces in CamelBak)
- Compass (and extra lithium batteries for GPSr & SPOT)
- Emergency Whistle
- FRS/GSRM Radio
- SPOT
- Tarp (I've had to use this already for an emergency shelter)

I carry a ton of stuff with me, but then I'm generally 50+ miles away from my vehicle and most of civilization.

Do you just throw these bullets, or is there a gun included. ;)
