05 800 efi plastic melting near exhaust pipes
05 Sportsman 800 efi
Has anyone out there had there plastic melt around the exhaust on there 800's???? Originally the rear fender hopped over the shift linkage and melted against the exhaust. The rear fender was replaced. They even added some heat shields that were glued to the back of the plastic. All seemed well.
I was out using a disc to prep food plots and in low range with plenty of power to spare to pull and the rear fender, side cover, seat were damaged from the heat.
I am looking for a solution, possibly more heat shields, different exhaust???
Great machine otherwise! What a stump puller!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks!

I'll have to ask Steve...he's never been on the site...but rides with us with his 800.

I personally have never seen this issue with my 800, but i am also not running low speeds like you mentioned here. I range from high to low a decent amount.

DEI makes a wrap that will keep the heat in (and away from fenders) so it will only come out on your muffler/tailpipe. I'll try to make the website link.
