Reverse in AWD does not work

Postby MrPolaris » Sat Jan 20, 2007 10:04 pm

For the techies. . .

Was riding in the snow the other day and realized I had no reverse AWD. . .

When I hold my yellow button, the reverse limiter works, and when going forward in AWD it works fine. . .

So is there something on the 800 I can check to see what is going wrong. . .

Only one explanation, your limp wristing the quad, clearly operator error!

Use Cue-tip or cottonball to push harder....

It sounds electrical.

1. do you see SLOW on the pod in Rev. (with the yellow button pushed in)
2. in 2 wheel drive and in rev. does it limit your speed? ( no yellow button pushed in)
3. in 2 wheel drive and in rev. does it limit your speed? ( yellow button pushed in)
Your override button is speed limiting not RPM so try number 2 and 3 some where you can get up to about 10 miles per hour. I think it limits to about 8 MPH

Lets try this.
With the quad running. or just the key in the on position.
AWD switch on.
Shift to Reverse.
push yellow button.
You should see "SLOW" flashing along with the AWD icon on.
Do you see the AWD icon?

I played with it a little over the weekend but to no prevail. I am still trying to download the user manual here, but it is giving me issues on my slower connection.

But the AWD and the slow "icons" both show up when I am in reverse with the yellow button held down. . .

(What page was the trouble shooting for thsi on in the manual)?

Chadd,
Do you still work on Polaris's? I am at the point now I think that I need to bring it into a "Professional" and I use that term loosely. . .

Any one have some suggestions for a local Roseville or Sacramento dealer who will not charge me up the starfish (Think about what the starfish is referrring to before asking, if still perplexed, think of the rear end. . . )

The only 2 places are Adrenaline in Citrus Heights and the asswipe in Auburn.

My choice would be Bill. It's near Sunrise and Old Auburn Rd.

Damn i still work on Polaris but i hate these problems.. Does your Speedo work? If the gauge does not work then 4x4 won't work. Next thing is to check the speedo pick up that goes down to the right front wheel.

the speedo all works fine as far as I can tell, at least all the lights and stuff work in the POD, so from there is where I am getting lost, but can take a look at the speedo pick up that you were talking about. Do you happen to know where in the tech spec document we have psoted on the site here might be for trouble shooting this?
