how to change out front gear box

Postby MrPolaris » Fri Mar 16, 2007 6:41 pm

Ok, I have my new gear box and thought it would be easy to get the old on out to put the new one in,but no luck. . .

I am looking at this front end here and I can go a number of ways to get the front gear case out, none of which seems to be the right way.

I can take off my A-Arms then pull the two drive lines that go to the wheels out, but this does not look like a good way to go. . . I can take off my booth and maybe dissconnect the Knuckles to pull out them out. . . not sure what to do. . .

thenalso where the drive line comes into the gear box I have what looks like apin going through the whole drive line through the spline. not sure what i should do to know this out. . . any suggestions or help?

Did you get it out yet? I found it to be a lot of work, but not too difficult. I pulled the front rack and rad assembly off, popped out a couple split pins in the front prop shaft, pulled out the front axles and unpluged the wiring and I think that was about it, oh and obviously the 4 bolts under it that bolt it to the machine.

I also did mine in one night since I got the diff on a tuesday and was heading to Texas the following day I think. It was last year for the mud nats and there was no way I was missing that trip LOL.
