700 EFI low engine Idle

Postby ATV'er » Sun Aug 12, 2007 7:13 pm

I have been having a low engine idle lately. Its been around 840 RPM. I refered to the service manual and it listed 4 posible things

1. Plugged air filter
- took off air filter and still had rough idle
2. Leaking injector (rich condition)
- possiblity
3. Belt dragging
- idel still rough in neutural and in park.
4. Throttle stop screw is incorrect
- could be but have not adjusted

Has anyone had this type of problem before? Any solutions or tips?

Thanks,

Scott

either Dirt passed through the filter and is plugging throttle body or the pink wire in the TPS wire loom is broke. This was a common problem with the 700 EFI

I think the former happened to me. Mine was doing the same thing...low idle....dying. I took the filter off (this was at home) and it still ran low idle....I gunned it a few times and it idled normally. Put the clean K&N back on, and it remained at proper idle.

My air filter was pretty dirty. I gave is some gas when I took the air filter off and had no luck. Maybe I will gun it a few times like you and see what kind of luck I have. Other than the idel is runs great.
