26 or 27 Big Horns on a SP700
Finally gonna break down and get some new shoes for my 700, but I'm not sure about a 26 or 27 inch tire. Anyone running the 27's?? Have any issues - power, rubbing or ???
I put Ken's set of 26" takeoff Carlisles on mine for this last ride, I did have some scraping on compression, but I think that was due in part to me having my preload set to cushy. I cranked it up two notches yesterday and it seems to have made a visible difference. I am also going to order a set of those TM2 Pre-Gressor's for the front. All of that should help with clearance.
Not too concerned about power, I think that'll be fine. The HeelClicker is in the back of my mind as well though.

26" bighorns I think that 27's would rub all the time.

Caution you may need to find the old style HC kit. or major front clutch work will be needed. I would just go for a 06 800 drive clutch.

I would say it is as good as a well tuned HC kitted clutch.Kendo wrote:I read about that too, is it that big of an improvement?
I'm assuming it's pretty much a bolt in replacement too, right? Stock springs and weights?
yeah the 06 drive clutch is bolt in and go.
The new HC weights are different and you need to space or shim the spider assy. in the drive clutch.

Definitely 26".....as it is, they'll run 27" and will probably rub on compression turns.
