Vin number

Postby GPER » Sun Oct 28, 2007 5:30 pm

I finally found a number on the upper part of the frame above the motor.
4XA world mfg ID #

R body style

F power train

50 engine

A Emission

6 check digit

X model year

D plant #

Then the six digit individual serial number

Does anyone have anything that will decode the X into the year of this thing. Everything I can find on line doesn't have the letters.
Thanks

According to the ad selling this one, yours is a '99.

That is closer than anything I got, that put me in the questionable year for a couple of parts. Could a parts hose figure out the month it was made????

Thanks

Maybe. Based on the actual production number (last part of the VIN) they might be able to tell about when it came off the line. There should be a sticker on the front somewhere that has the VIN and manufacture date. It's on the 'hood' on a Sportsman, not sure about a Ranger.

I checked the hood last night and there is no numbers on it just a plaque of the dealer where it was bought.
