Thorn hole in CV boot

Postby popotim » Wed Sep 17, 2008 2:59 pm

Noticed I have a little thorn (or something) hole in my rear upper cv boot in the valley (crease) only noticed it because the dust on it was a little darker at that spot. Could have been there for some time. Boot otherwise is intact and in good shape. Anybody ever had any luck putting a little patch or something over a hole in a CV boot? Could probably ride it as is, took me a while to find the pin hole, and it doesn't look like the start of a tear yet.

Personally, if it's that small, I would just smear/glob some black RTV on it to keep the water and dirt out and ride as is. Give it a look see every once in a while to make sure it's not getting any worse.

I've changed them and they are a PITA!!!
