Postby QMaze » Wed Feb 16, 2005 4:35 pm

What year did Polaris introduce IRS and what models did it arrive on? Also have the models changed much since this introduction?

THanks

I guessing around 94,95, or 96. I have a 96 sportsman 500 IRS and I think it was one of the first few years they made them. You could try looking up in the parts diagrams on www.worldofpowersports.com to figure it out. The IRS A-arms and other suspension parts havent changed much on my 96' 500 to my 04' 700. But the rear axle, gear box, cv joints, and hubs are completely different.

10-11 years sounds about right.

2002-2004's are similar. 2005 had a design change...not a lot mechanically....but appearance big time.

Yeah, I verified it last night. 1996 was the first year for IRS on the Sportsman.
