The thing looks awesome all the way around. However, I do have one concern.... With all the rocks we do, we have a tendacy to tear apart footwells.... With the current configuration, the way they're molded I'm afraid I'll spend a thousand dollars replacing them.... I have a feeling we'll have to cut them and figure a way to add the footwell protectors.

Otherwise, I'm gonna "git" me one of those darn things.... lol.

Terry....quit worrying about your footwells....your ATV is upside down most of the time.

Medic...I'm SO envious. My dealer said the power difference is like 500 to 700.

The 2005 footwells are made out of a different plastic then the previous years. It is very flexible and has memory. I was on a very narrow trail cut into Decomposed Granite on the side of a mountain and caught my footwell on a protruding rock. It ripped out the plastic fastener holding the footwell to the front fender and bent the footwell back an inch or so. When I got to the bottom of the hill I put it all back together and it assumed its original shape. It looks no worse for the wear today. Certainly an improvement over the brittle plastic they used to use.

On another note I got to ride an 800 this weekend. Handling and ride are the same as my 500 but it certainly has more power. It does not accelerate near as hard as a good 400 class sport quad but is quite a bit stronger then my 500. In low range it's almost too much power. You have to remember to feather the throttle when climbing stuff or wheels are spinning and the quad is dancing around. I did notice that the engine is smoother and sounds a lot meaner. Not worth the extra $2000 over the 700 EFI to me but if you need the latest and greatest it's the one.

lol....

Ya gott see what we do.... Come join us. The only memory my footwells will have; is when and where they were shattered into 30 pieces and left for dead.... lol.

Ever been to a junkyard and watched the big car get crushed into a little square..... It's kinda like that. lol.....

I had been leaning towards the 800 EFI but one problem that stopped me, GAS MILEAGE, I hear its a PIG, and I mean PIG, one guy on the atv connection told me he was getting 40 miles on a tank and its broken in, said he rides hard so it burns more, more, I'd need 10 gallons of gas for that to do the trips I do. 100+ miles sometimes. Someone else told me normal riding they get 70 miles, but the 05 700 EFI gets around 90-100 miles, so for my kind of riding the better gas mileage the better.
I don't mind carrying 5 gallons but no more. Also the price difference is quite high for that extra what 60 CC with a FAKE dual exhaust, it splits right on the muffler so really its not doing anything more then a better sound. I would of thought it would of split right at the end of the pipe before hitting the muffler. Oh well.
Someone told me just to get a K/N Airfilter and the 700 would be real close to the 800.

EFI

I forgot to mention one other thing that I am thrilled about. At about 1750',my friend's 600 sportsman started to run a little rough.
Not with the EFI, my 800 purred like a cat no matter what the elevation which is why I went with the EFI in the first place! It also does'nt matter what the temp is outside, it alway's starts easily.

Try a 700 carb at 8000 feet. It runs ok...but is gutless at that altitude.
