Polaris Sportsman gurus, need advice!

I bought a 2005 Polaris Sportsman 500HO about four days ago. I rode it only two days and notice that when I reverse the machine sputters and jerks. If I use the override switch while reversing the sputtering stops and it reverses smoothly. I did go through some water during my rides but do not have any engine problems other than the reverse issue (and a bent tie rod but thats another post). Any suggestions on what could cause this or what I can do to fix it?

Totally normal. The sputtering is the governer or whatever they use. It's to limit the HP so you don't go flying over the handle bars. That's why it flashes SLOW when you press the override. When I first got mine...I almost did a flying walenda over the bars.

On that note...Jack just did the override bypass...no more yellow button to lock up in reverse....if you're comfortable with being careful...it's a nice mod.
