2006 500 HO EFI?
You all have probably heard the rumors floating around. I have a friend who is a mechanic at the local Polaris shop and he was talking about the 06 500 HO EFI the other day. I think that would be a GREAT quad for just about any application. The benefits of EFI on the proven 500 mill is a strong selling point for me. I think this may be my next quad, even with the 800 poking it's powerful head around, I just don't need all that power(although it is fun). I would much rather have the benefits of EFI in a more economical package. I have seen the 500 HO in action with both a 600 and carbed 700. There really wasn't much difference in performance unless we were pulling heavy loads. I think the 500 EFI would be a great quad for any application, what are your thoughts?

Why are the 500s more noisy than say the 800, would think the 800 would require a bigger blower to get more oxygen than the 500? more O2, would then require a bigger exhaust which leads to more noise normally

500 would be fine...with EFI.

What do you mean by that statement? I have not noticed the 500 HO to be any noiser than any other single. I am still in a tossup between the EFI 500 HO or the 700 KQ. My buddy has a KQ and I don't want to get the same quad that he has for a few personal reasons.Drawback.... The 500's are very noisy.

I think a 500 EFI would be awesome, and Polaris should have had one out before now. It's too bad they won't ship to dealers until probably September, as I'd love to be able to pick one up in June.
As it is I'll probably get an 05 700 EFI around that timeframe... dunno.

I have to tell you... I've never ridden one however, I'm a moderator for another ATV forum and it was brought up a number of times. Although I think you hit it on the nose when you said "noiser than any other single."Quote:

Most of the guys discussing it were riding twins.... Maybe they're noiser than the twins? I'm just passing it along.
