04.5 500HO jetting help

Postby MrBill » Sun Sep 25, 2005 9:22 am

I'm looking for a litter better all around running at higher alt.
stock is a 155 jet and the needle set a center clip.
I have is installed a 150 and where should the needle be set for back to stock like conditions.
At home my rides are at 2800ft.
When I go up for ridding 6000ft to 9000ft I can move the needle down.
Where should I move the needle down to or clip up to for these higher rides?

I think I found a sweet spot for the clip running at home. 150 jet and clip in the center. The plug looks good not too tan in color.
Why is it the on the 500 HO's I only get tan on one side of the plug?

Ken,
Did you do the same kit as Jack? or was it just "holly shit" about the frame.

That kit is the BEST kit. No farting around...no "figuring out". It's 1, 2, 3. They give you a new needle (smaller and sharper point), they give you new clips/washers and different clip points on the needle for the altitude, they give you multiple jets and they give you a drill/and screw that fits perfectly to pull the plug that covers the air/fuel mixture.

Step by step....the docs are good...it was obviously nice having Jack who'd done it before. So I took step by step photos....which will be posted soon.

Finding the crack, was when we pulled the air box.
