Polaris section added for obvious reasons.

We have 4 Polaris Sportsman 700 Twins and 1 Polaris Sportsman 600 Twin in our main group.

So we love to talk about Polaris ATV's.

Hiya's

Nice Site.

I just picked up an atv this past monday, my first, and I went with the polaris sportsman 600 4x4....

after checking out this site, and seeing yer vids. I can't wait to get more experienced at this and hit something like ya'll are doing at some point.
but down here in fl we have the Ocala Forest (Big Scrub area) and Croom, (maybe more, but those 2 seem to be the places to goto) both in central part of state...a few weeks ago i went with friends to Ocala and now I have the bug. Tomorrow we head to Croom

Wish me luck.

I've visited Florida before. Is "Mud Bogging" the popular thing to do?? What other kinds of terrain do you ride on??

yeah, muddin seems to be the big thing here, and i've done a little of it. the thought of killin my quad scares me, so i've pretty much keep it out of the deep mud if I can.

trailriding is fun, the terrainis pretty much dirt/sand/clay depending on the area. nothing like I see in ya'lls pix! but here in FL we dont have too many places to ride. checking out ya'lls pix and vids, THAT's that sort of stuff i'd love to try and do. A friend of mine just moved up to the Coos Bay, OR area and she tells me the dunes up there is an awesome palce to ride...heh, she's tellin me to move out there...

www.atvflorida.com has some pix posted of the 2 popular places in the state.

Oregon has nice riding...similar to our pictures. Plus it does have the dunes.

We have dunes outside Reno, NV (about 100 miles)....but we've never gone. Or you can drive 6 hours, down the Pismo Beach...world famous dunes there.

I prefer rocks...as you can see....but riding around the mud is fun. We'll be going down the Rubicon Trail, in Mid-May....That's the photo on the front page with 8 feet of snow at the trail entrance. To give you an idea...I've never made it down before the end of June in my Willys Jeep...but we're going to try in our ATV's in Mid-May...That trip...will have huge mud holes from the snow melting. So for us...Mud is a means to an end...not the end.

The rocks look like fun!

closest thing to rocks like that here would be at the local home depot and ride over the garden stones!

We went and did some trail ridin over at Croom (state run motorcycle/atv park, 2600 acres), nothing eventful, had some fun tho, my buddies raptor starter died on him on first trip out...would just pull him everytime he needed a start, so that wasn't too bad..this weekend heading to Ocala National Forest ( http://www.atvflorida.com/ocala.shtml ) , i've only been once riding a borrowed ride, now that I have my own, I plan on exploring for hours....strap on a cooler and a tank and go!

w000!

Postby MrPolaris » Wed Apr 14, 2004 7:27 am

This mays rubicon trip is going to be awesome. i just hope that the mud is not to thick as I am still riding on the stock tires. . . cannot force my self to shell out the xtra bones for the mud lugged based tires. . .Then again with my honda do I really need that, I mean I do not want to make all your polaris riders look bad. . .

Can't shell out $$$ for mud tires....can't shell out money on Gizmos cause you lose it.

You have issues too.

people comment on the tires on my ride quite a bit, they really seem suprised when I tell them they are the stock tires...I havent really looked but I guess the good year rawhides are beefier than most stock tires they are putting on the 4x4 quads?

Definitely. The Goodyear Rawhides are darn good tires.

I upgraded my Rawhides to 589's, but mainly for the extra clearance (I went an inch higher). I was also getting paid by two employers...so I had the extra money at the time...and I knew once that extra check turned off...I wouldn't get to be so liberal on buying new tires.

I kept my Rawhides...I'm going to use them for trail riding. No sense in rubbing on rubber needlessly on my mud/rock tires.
