Any alternatives to Polaris oils?

Postby Joey2 » Fri Oct 21, 2005 4:07 pm

So I go to the dealer today to get some transmission oil (AGL) and front differential fluid (Drive Hub Fluid).

Last month the 8oz DHB was anoly $3.99, today it was $8.99!
Last Month the 12oz AGL was $8 and some change, today it is $12.99!

Dealer said that oil prices have went up. WTF!

Has anyone used any safe alternatives for the two? If I knew the weight of the oils I would research it myself and look for aftermarket oils.

I was going to chnge teh fluids early (70 hours), I love my machine and want to change the fluids early. But now I think that I will wait till I reach 100 hours.

Any imput would be appretiated.

I agree.... I just spent 8 bucks on a quart of oil. Went up! (my ass)... however, if I were you I'd spend the money......

Probably save you some big bucks in the long run......

mercron atf is a safe for the transmission. I don't know of a safe alternitive to the hub fluid. When the recommend to change them every 250 miles or 25 hours that gets expensive.

Caution Chadd: Front Hub=front differential. Mercon "Chevron" is not Synthetic. I'm a true believer in these new oil replacements.
WOW my book states 100 hours or 6 months. Chadd getting commission??

We always told Customers 100 hours or 6 months. BUT the 05 800 efi manual says 25 hours or 250 miles..

Remember Joey2
Front and rear Dif. oil changes are yearly. I do mine a little sooner if I ride hard (8 months or so). Mobil one makes a 0-40 100% Synthetic and a Wix filter will save a little.

Do me a big favor. Try not to use FRAM filters. After Allied bought them the quality has down hill IMOA.
