'05 vs '06 SPortsman

Postby dp » Tue Oct 25, 2005 7:00 am

I've narrowed my search down for a new quad to the Sportsman (again) 800. I was wondering if any of you knew about any changes worth noting from '05 to '06?

Not any that I am aware of.

I do like the 05 color scheme better that the 06. The removable side panels on the 2006 are silver in some applications, I think that it looks ugly.

However, that is just my humble opinion, which may not have any affect on your decision.

You can also go to the web page www.polarisindustries.com and compare the two models.

Those are the differences that I noticed.

The 06 models you do not have to step on the brake to shift into high or park. The rear storage box is sealed up and it's a little smaller. and the 800 comes in other colors. thats the only differances that i have noticed.

No Shit?? Wow...that's a MAJOR improvement as far as I'm concerned....Stopping to shift back into HIGH...sucks.

Park...not an inconvenience....and I actually like that feature, so that you don't accidently slam it into Park while...shifting!

How do they prevent it going into Park while moving?

I'm guessing you still have to stop? Hate to blow out a gear cuz you were rolling....

Yes you still have to come to a COMPLETE stop but you don't have to press the brake. I like the way my 05 works. when i ride the bosses 06 i always go into park instead of reverse.

Hmmmm. That would be me too....

Seems that would be easy to forget coming to a stop, and accidently shift.

Yeah, that would be handy. I'm with Ken regarding stopping to go to high sucks, but I would also over shoot that reverse.

If that's roughly the only changes Then I'll put my dibbs on a '05 hunter package for the $ savings. damn, can't wait.
