polaris 4WD??

Postby BearCat » Sat Dec 03, 2005 11:48 am

OK..05 700EFI, I read somewhere(maybe it was here) that you can cheat the 4WD,keep it engaged, while going downhill or in reverse. The reason I ask is I attempted to put the machine on the truck backwards because it fits better that way. I have a fold up type cover on the box with four panels. Putting the machine in backwards gets the rear wheels under the panels and the rear rack over them. BUT... what a pain in the ass rear wheel spin is when your up on ramps!!!! LOL. IF I hold the button down in reverse does this keep it in 4WD??? or just override the throttle?

Thx BC.

Holding the button down in reverse is the only way the AWD will engage. If you want the AWD to stay engaged while going down hill there is a trick. At the top of the hill turn on the AWD hold the override button down and back up this will engage the AWD. Them put it in high or low range and go down the hill it will stay engaged until you get back on the throttle.

Does any of that make sense? LOL

Jack has done the Reverse Override mod. He doesn't push it in anymore and the "trick" still works.

it will stay engaged until you get back on the throttle.

so when you give it throttel it goes back into 2 wheel, so the advantage is 4 wheel compression breaking??? I don't see the problem going down hill in 2 wheel?? does it make the rear end slide around in 2 wheel??

Yup.

I usually go down any hill...in HIGH, to minimize EBS.

This works good for me.
