Still have sensor issues...

Postby rangertom » Mon Feb 13, 2006 9:40 am

I'm afraid I didn't quite get it solid when I recreated my connections on my T-BAP sensor fix. Now I've got a CODE "46"...dammit!

The problem seems to be intermittent, so I just think it's a connection problem with my splice connectors. I'll add some dielectric grease to the 4-way connections and then figure out which wire is the one that causes a "46" to pop up and redo the connection.

On the trip this weekend, the code appearred on the second day, and came and went. There was never any indication something was wrong, except the "check engine" indicator popped up. The machine drove flawlessly (no limp mode).

Fun fun fun...I'm sure I'll end up replacing the EFI harness and T-BAP sensor soon if I'm not able to rectify the problem.

Yeah...it's been a real P.I.T.A!!! But at least I know what is most likely wrong...that's the BIG battle...I can have this fixed in less than 20 minutes when I figure out which connection is the one causing the problem.

Given the indication, 3 out of 4 of them are 100%...

WHICH WIRE IS CAUSING A CODE "46"?????

HELP!!!

I've looked through the wiring diagram, knowing which one caused the Code 45, but I don't know which one causes the 46 or a 41...

Well, I found out which wire was the culprit. The purple wire. One of my solder connections didn't take too well. I resoldered that connection, then soldered all the "barrel" connections too. While there I checked all the other connections which were solid.

All set now, and in sound working order.

Another happy ending.

I ended up spending a total of $40 for the repair, 20 of which, a waste spent on the Cold Heat solder iron. That thing really sucks.

Just bought a soldering gun this weekend and was wondering if I should have gone with that little cold heat thing. Thanks for taking the question out of it.

yeah...it's got it's uses...but those don't match any of my needs. I did see 3 different tips for it @ radio shack...but it's a huge expense in comparison to an old school iron.

Did another 70 miles of trail and mtn climbing this weekend. First 45 miles, no problems electrically! Second day, 5 miles into the ride, the damned "check engine" indicator came on again!

Funny thing, I said to myself, "this has got to be something else," but it was the same freakin' thing! All this practice I'm getting soldering, I've got to get good at some point, right? It was the same codes, 46, and 41.

I haven't checked it yet, but 10-1 odds it's the freakin' purple wire lead again, loose at the T-BAP.

Oh well...the new patch kit and a new sensor are lookin' pretty good w/all this aggravation I've been subjected to.

GREAT RIDE though!!!
