I'm glad it helped.

Besides the cleaning...I noticed in my ride at altitude...my performance was the same, as it was at home. I didn't have that bogging, I had before.

A final report back on my results:

I rode with my rejetted carb at 4000 - 5000 on Saturday -- a noticable improvement! This, coupled with the air filter I changed out previously, have certainly upgraded the sound, feel and performance of my machine compared to when it was new, and stock.

Wondering how that 3k-6k jet worked for Tom on his 500. I am looking to do the same on my 04.5 so the boyz can try and keep up. Tired of changing plugs. Plus what does it do at sea level if I took it to Pismo for a few days?

Hi Ken,
Used these photos to put the jet kit on my 500. You made it very easy to follow. Seems to run better, but won't know until Meadow Lake next month. Hope you consider doing the same service for other tasks like CV boot replacement, clutchs and so on when they come up in your future. Really appriciate your knowledge and forum you provide. I'm sure you'll be a first round selection for the ATV hall of fame.

Well, depending on which jet you used and how much hard riding you anticipate doing at Pismo (i.e. how much FULL THROTTLE) I would probably take the time to swap the jet before that trip. The rejet really only affects mid range to full throttle performance, the rest is the pilot jet circuit and you don't do anything with that except adjust for idle.

I ran a 138 in my 700 for probably a year at elevations above 6000 and it ran way rich. I recently switched to a 134 and it's still on the rich side. However, I think my problem lies in the pilot circuit, so that's my next change. Trouble is, I live at 1400 so when I adjust here, I have to redo it all when I get up the hill. I have to take my chit up there and adjust once I arrive.

Sounds a little over my head, but it's got to be better than stock up there. I'll take the EFI to Pismo if I go so I won't need to worry about it. If' you going to be there in Sept, might need some advice. My 20 year old son will have the 500, so a little lack of power won't exactly break my heart. He's got more balls than brains.

No problem, we usually have enough time in camp to mess around with stuff like that.

Did you drill out and pull the plug according to the directions? That's the pilot adjustment. Helps to have a small screwdriver (really small) to adjust that wherever you're riding.

yea, got that out of there and found the screw and followed the directions. Was just amazed how much larger the diameter of the stock one was to the dynojet I put in there. Used the one of 3k-6k. The stock one was even larger than the sea level one from dynojet. The package is clearly labeled 01-06 Pol 500 H.O., and the guy who took my phone order said it's the right one. Guess we'll see. Know the stock one went through lots of fuel and my main problem was changing plugs all the time. It actually didn't do too bad on power with the stock set up.
