Strut replacement...
What fun! My bro-in-law and I were messin' w/our Sportsmans (setting max preload on the rear shocks), when we decided to tear into his front right side to replace his strut. He'd blown it months ago, and had the new strut sitting on a shelf for nearly as long.
We managed to remove the blown strut, after nearly an hour of wrenching and scratching our heads. What a pain in the A$$! We placed the new strut into it's rightful place, and that's when we figured out he was given the wrong strut by the dealer (last two #'s of PN ..62, correct PN ..61). We were pretty disgusted after 30 minutes of trying to get the spring over the top of the strut, having no luck at all. I got the bright idea of looking at the PN on the old strut, comparing it against the new strut.
Knowing my Bro-in-law, he's gonna give them an earful. I suggested since they gave him the wrong strut in the first place, they should pay for the "rush" delivery to next day ship his correct strut.
I tell yah, after what we went through just doing one side, I'm not to excited about putting spacers or heavier springs on both his and my machines until we get a good spring compression tool.
