Really, whats wrong with Aluminum? Thought about getting a set when I need new tires. These stock chrome ones need constant attention with "never-dull" to keep the bits of surface rust away. I know the aluminum ones sometimes begin to leak around the bead over time.
Nothing (I think) from a wear and tear perspective..... Although, has anyone ever had to r and r a tire on an aluminum rim while out on the trail?

It seems it takes a special machine to pull off the tire without damaging the aluminum rim. I was able to have Big-O r and r a tire on a steel rim for three bucks. They don't have the type of machine necessary for aluminum rims, so now I have to drive across town and spend 20 bucks to have it done (that's $80 for four tires vs. $12).... another Polaris innovation. lol......

Even with this special tire machine it put some nice gouges and scratches on the rim (all cosmetic). Anyone want to trade aluminum for steel.....
