2007 Grizzly ???

Postby DAVE » Tue Jan 25, 2011 6:05 pm

I picked up a new ride a few months ago a 2007 grizzly with 260 miles on it. (Cammo, Winch, bags) This is a pretty impresive machine.

I have a question related to the air box lid.......that there was a change on the newer model years. Have you guys with the 2007 machines changed to the newer air box lid or made any modifications to your existing lid.

Thanks DAVEF

Hi Dave.

What size is your new Grizzly... a 700?

If you are looking for a less restricted lid, there is a company called EHS Racing that makes a sweet setup for that machine. It is available as a complete assembly, or as a DIY "kit"...

Heres a link -

Yep 700 cc.........I am not looking to make any mods just wanting to keep the dirt out of my engine....

I understand there was a problem with the 2007 air box lids, just not sure what others have done to correct the problem or if there is even a problem.

It sounds to me like you are just in need of a upgraded filter like K&N or maybe UNI... (there are others)

Is your machine fuel injected or carburated?

I have a 2007 660, no evidence of problems with the airbox (i would expect to see dust at any leak points - looks clean to me).

I have a 2007 660
I thought 2006 was the last year for the 660..???

I thought there was a problem with the first year 700 griz air box lid.

They had a 2008 660: http://www.yamaha-motor.com/outdoor/pro ... /home.aspx

The 700 was a different story - I have a 2009 700, no issues either though. They may have had issues with earlier years, not sure. There certainly was the boiling gas issue!

Thanks for the info I thought they stoped making the 660 and started making the 700.

I have the original air box lid and haven't noticed any problems with dirt getting in there. It fits real snug.

There have been some factory recall items on the 2007's. I think they are related to the gas boiling issue. Roseville Yamaha installed them all on both of my Grizzlies for free.
