slime

Postby mudmedic » Thu Jul 28, 2005 7:38 am

I was going to purchase the slime to use on my 800 because I keep getting flats on the front. Mud and other debris gets between the rim and the tire causing the slow leak that you spoke of. If you read the bottle it also say's that the product only works in the tread area and not on sidewalls. If you take your tire off and lay it on the ground, stand on it and push the tire away from the rim, you will find crud between the tire and the rim. Blow it out with an air hose or wash it with the garden hose and then re- inflate the tire. I had another flat three weeks ago and I did this and the tire is still full and I have'nt had to add air to it. Hope this helps.

Funny you say that...I KNOW I have a ton of crap between my rim and tire.

800 rims

Postby mudmedic » Fri Jul 29, 2005 7:12 am

Ken, when I was going on and on about how I love my 800 in another post, I did forget to mention that I think the fancy shiny rims that came on the machine suck! As I told the dealer when he said "oh are'nt them rims pretty" I said it's an 800 and it's not supposed to look pretty you idiot! I told him the first time I get this thing in the mud and spin the tires they will be ruined, which they are. It's the same thing as wet sanding! The machine has power to spare and imo they should have put steel rims on it because the thing is so heavy to begin with it would'nt have made that much of a difference. Before next season the pretty rims are history! I'm going to get a better rim than these factory junk ones.

Mr. Bill I would be interested in that contact information if you would like to pass it along. I live in So. Oregon and am looking for some new meats for the quad.
