mudlites!

Postby Thrasher » Thu Dec 16, 2004 4:43 am

ok, so I got the baby mudlites, 25" but what a weight difference from the goodyears! reason I stayed with 25" on this set, is I will use these more for 'genera'l trailriding with some mud involved. I do want to get a bigger set (589's? Outlaws?) when theres not much trail riding and a whole lotta mud!

55 bux each for the rears at a local yamaha dealer. I paid 50 each for the fronts online...shoulda checked local first.

now i need to find a spare set of rims so I can start getting some larger tires.

Mudlites aren't bad tires. I think the 589's have more "bite", but for what you want.....darn good tire.

i am actually impressed with the mudlites....I was out at Mud Sweat & Gears this weekend and I pretty much plowed thru everything...got stuck once trying to pull someone else out of a hole, and I was going in reverse...
another time slightly stuck in the big mudpit, but was able to back out..

when trail riding they hookup great at all speeds and not over grippy when trying to turn at low speeds.

I also jacked up my shocks all the way up to the stiffest position..handles a whole lot better. I don't know what factory settings are, but it was at the lowest settings before and it now stands taller too.

i'll post more on MS&G in another post...on the first trail ride, dude on dirtbike wrecks, I thought he wad dead...more later...

I think the rear shocks are set to soft position stock. I was thinking about setting my shocks to the higher position so I can handle all the gear I put on my quad.

it was prety easy to do. but ya gotta jack up the quad and take the rear wheels off. get some large channel locks and a rag...and crank them up. it took me longer to find the jack and get the wheels off than to adjust the shocks....go figure.

Damn....30". That's 1" less than my 31" Armstrong Tru-Tracs that I ran on my Willys for 8 years.

I'd upgrade to Gorilla Axels to handle those.
