Interco Reptile Radial on DWT Beadlocks!

Postby Sasquatch » Tue Feb 08, 2011 12:38 pm

Currently I am running Interco Reptile Radials mounted on black DWT Racing Diablo true beadlock wheels.

The tires are 27x9x12 front and 27x11x12 rear. The wheels are 12x7" F&R with a 4+3 spacing.

http://www.dwtracing.com/products/atv/l ... +beadlocks

I only have a couple hundred miles on them so far, so I can not attest as to how well they wear or how long the tires will last (yet)...

The tires ride smoothly at any speed and have provided outstanding traction in every riding terrain I have run them so far (dirt, hardpack, gravel, rock, shallow mud, snow (fresh powder, slush, and crust), pavement, ect.)

So far I REALLY like them!

Here are a few pics-

Those are some sweet looking wheels! I love the all-black look on a camo quad. The ones I went with aren't nearly as nice and the chrome band ruins the whole look:

Oh well, maybe next time.

Around $120 each shipped to my door... very reasonable for a true beadlock IMO! They are also available polished for those who dont like black.

Thanks for the kind words!

I have had a couple people ask how difficult it is to install the tires on the beadlocks so I figure I would add a couple more pics to this thread.

I was actually able to slip the tires on each wheel by hand using the tailgate of my truck for a work bench and Simplegreen sprayed around the tire bead for a lubricant. All-in-all the install went smoothly, although it was a time consuming process to tighten all 64 beadlock ring bolts (16 per wheel snugged up over several stages using the "star sequence" until evenly tightened) After doing all 4 by hand, I am confident I would be able to remove/replace a tire out on the trail if needed (using only a ratchet and socket) with the exception of one slight problem... I DONT HAVE A SPARE TIRE YET! :D

I found that installing beadlocks was easy. I used a old rim as a bench and put my new rim on top. Then I put the tire on the beadlock rim. I found that having that rim underneath helped center the tire on the beadlock rim easy, and since the new tire wasnt touching the ground I didn't have to fight with it much. Tighting all the bolts sucked big time.

After running mine for more than a year I was surprised than none of the ring bolt loosened up over time. I check them every few month to be safe.

Eventually I will purchase a spare tire to bring along on those far away rides like Moab for example. That way, in the event I should side-gash a tire beyond being repairable, I will have a replacement on hand (at the truck at least)!

Also, one of these days I hope to purchase or build a off road capable trailer I can tow behind my atv that would be able to carry enough gear to do overnighter trips... when I set up the trailer, I plan to use the same tire size as I have on the front of the quad on the trailer as well. That way I can carry 1 spare tire that could be installed on the trailer and/or the bike if the need should arise.

Ah...Gotcha.

We do the same at Moab...bring a Front tire...to use in front or back, if there is a failure (which..we...er I have had....Watch Mountains and Mud 3 if you want to be entertained.)

For most stuff....we bring a tube.

here is a picture of my trailer. The problem with it Is I carry to much junk anyway and now I have a Trailer.

Just a note I extended the axel and put utv tires, and rivited the fendars higher, also locktight any bolts when we took it out got home and every bolt in it worked its self loose, the tongue was almost falling off.

That looks pretty sweet! Thanks for sharing the pic
