mud lites or 589's

Postby ash2042 » Sat Jun 12, 2004 2:04 pm

I know alot of you guys have the 589's and a few have the mud lites. I was wondering your opinions on which perform the best. Maybe give a few opinions.(i.e. in mud, snow, rocksand traill riding) Which is the best overall.

I have 589's. I'll have to get some Mudlite guys to chime in.

Trail Riding: Mudlites. 589's have 2" lugs. You can feel 'em.

Rock's: Pick 'em. I couldn't see any real difference. I just know the 589's were great when wet, climbing out of granite.

Mud/Snow: I'd give a slight nod to the 589's. 2" lugs...come on.

I wonder if those 2" lugs woulda helped me when I got stuck last time..

I've toyed with the idea of some 589's..and some new wheels...

I got mine from Tires and Stuff from the links page. Got the rims and tires for like 520 or something like that.

It's worth it to buy the tires rims....and KEEP your old tires. I use mine for trail riding. A) get more speed/accelleration B) Why kill my lugs just cruising.

Thrasher,
Look on ebay I saw 589s with wheels from a dealer on there. You should be able to get a good deal.

I have the mud lites and I love them. they do not have the 2" lug that the 589s have, but I feel that they are more veritile. The honda is a lighter rig and does not need to dig in as much as the polaris does so for me the Mud lites work great.

I know that terry felt that the 589s did not handle as well on the dry rock and did more slipping, but not sure. The ticker lugs grab hold of some of those granite rock cropings and chugs up like a tractor.

Bottom line, I feel the Mud lites are more vesatile and better all around mixture of trail riding, mud bogging and rock crawling. Now the next question is size, does size really matter?

Terry doesn't have 589's. He has the stock, Goodyear Rawhide Grips...but I think he's getting the 589's.
