The Federal Budget In Plain english

Postby Ken » Sun Jan 01, 2012 5:07 pm

Found this on another site....

The budget explained in simple English.

United States Tax Revenue: $2,170,000,000,000
Federal Budget: $3,820,000,000,000
New Debt: $1,650,000,000,000
National Debt: $14,271,000,000,000
Recent Budget Cut: $38,500,000,000

Now, remove 8 zeros and pretend it’s your household budget.

Annual Family Income: $21,700
Money the family spent: $38,200
New Debt on the Credit Card: $16,500
Outstanding balance on credit card: $142,000
Total budget cuts the politicians are proud of: $385
The last words spoken before a YouTube video is filmed: "Hold my beer, now watch this..."

That puts it into a good perspective. That may be Facebook worthy.

What Scott said, that's nice. People hear these gigantamous numbers been thrown around and different ways of measuring debt that lead to different numbers (like including unfunded liabilities) and it gets way too confusing to even grasp. Putting it in those simple terms let's everyone see how incredibly fawked up Washington D.C. is.

Washington D.C. IS fawked up. Talking about trillions of Monopoly money terms all the time - the politicians have lost all concept of reality. It's outrageous. Here in the Golden State, the politicos are more worried about putting up to 8 year olds in carseats than saving the state from sinking. This state is more fawked up than DC.
