any thoughts..

Looking for something to protect my camera gear and DUST "resistant. If there is such a thing.. And something tough enough to overcome my vertically challenged riding style..

I thought about another bag. But after seeing bills (slouching) and his thoughts "THEY SUCK"..

You're thoughts (warped as they ma be) are requested..

Would you buy that piece of junk again and just keep returning it to cabelas :D or wish you had bought something else.

Do you use a box, is it Oh My God what was I thinking I can't get my leg over this thing.. or just right.

Come one folks hep a broda out.

The boxes look ok to me, but I think haveing the flat pack mounted in a up right position, like the pic would be a problem. I like heavy items mounted lower. I have 2 flat packs and they work fine, but some of the guys that ride in the chico group have a carrier that mounts in the rear reciver and seem to work well.

I would actually like to find a front mount for the flat pack like Larrys.

I like the way its secured. I have looked at the ones Kolpin sells and I really don't want to be drilling up my front end..

I agree with you on the rear mounts - seems it would make the rear end that much more "top" heavy.. prone to helping with a flip on steep climbs..

That is an awesome idea...a hitch carrier for the receiver of the atv, rather than a trailer. I've seen them before, but cannot remember which websites had them. Seems to me Cabela's had one. Anyone got some links or pics or both?

Fire away! Thanks in advance!

In response to the rack bags, I have the Koplin Matrix that holds a case of cans. I love everything about it but the zippers...they require a LOT of cleaning and zipperlube. I haven't sent it back, as it still works (w/lots of TLC). But I'm looking for a hard case as well to do the job.

I may just buy the Polaris one for my 04 from breeselawnandgarden ebay store.

I have the Polaris one and it works great but it is big, so if you need bail off you need to go off the front or sides. Also you rack extension will need to come off.

Ok so at what point do you actually use the Box, Bill?

Or do you mainly use the soft bag

Mostly the soft bag, but when camping I need the bigger box for camping equipment.
Check out the Ducy trail photos.

Oh yeah...that's quite a bit larger than I'd imagined. Maybe I'll just stick to the box for the front...naw...I've only had to "bail" off once...and when it happened I was going slow enough the incident was controllable. Is that model the Lock N Ride style? If so, Bill, do you use that mounting system?

That's why I don't own a box....I've bailed off LEFT/RIGHT and slid off the back seat twice....there was no left or right available...it was going over backwards. Once, I slid off and literally pushed it back down....

The other....it came over.

It is not lock and ride but, it dose fit right on the 04 rack with a quick twist.

here is my current method. the box is tied down with the big zip ties so it can be removed to get under trees across the trail, ect.. and the fuel pack can be slid out without removing the box. not perfect, but it works...

If I were going to buy again, I would go to the hard case for dust and water protection. I like the softies for their flexibility, however. So, I figured what didn't I like about the bags I have: Answer--zippers get dusty and stick, also, not waterproof.

Today I just picked up my modified bags with longer flaps hanging over the zippers--so that should keep out most dust and all water. I've got silicon spray for the zippers. Plus, I picked up waterproofing stuff to spray the sides with and Sno-Seal to rub into the top to keep out the water. If all this works, then I can delay getting hard boxes for awhile.

There must be some graveyard somewhere with thousands of soft bags, I suppose.

Monty, I like your set up. It looks pretty solid from your pic, at least. However, it doesn't look like you've got room for much else. I'll post a pic of the solution I came up with last week, with the help of ideas from others on this site.

Cheers!
