First mod?

Postby NickD » Wed Apr 18, 2007 9:36 am

Brand new King quad is still sitting on the trailer without it's first ride yet, but I can't help thinking about buying some mods.... especially with the mod King, Keith around...

I was thinking of ordering a winch today, but I was also thinking that if I get stuck enough to need a winch, I probalby need armor etc.

What do you guys think, winch first, armor first? Anything else?... and yes, yes I know just get out and ride it. I've been trying to but that is a whole other story. Hope to go ride at Prairie City tonight if anyne wants to come out, otherwise probalby be there this Saturday too.

Buy both rich boy. And while you're at it, pony up for that Dmax, then you won't have to worry about towing the trailer.

There is that loading angle though.........

Honestly, I would get a winch first. You can still get stuck in snow and mud without plates.

The only winch to get IMO, is the 3000CE, not CI. The CI winches do NOT have a mechanical brake.

So...if you find yourself like this.....you'll slide back down without a mechanical break. The 2500 winches are not sealed....the 3000CE is.

How much armor does Larry have on his. I think the Winch would be my first (speaking from experience ... snow issues).

If you are riding with this group EVERYONE has a winch. but then again EVERYONE also has good skid plates...

Thank you for your attention..

Sonds like winch it is.... I think the new RT adn XT winches by Warn have the brake, plus you can buy the RT30 for under $380, shipped.

Call Montana Jacks, and ask for Steve. Steve IS the WINCH GURU....He's one of the few non-Warn authorized service centers.

He's like a human Wikipedia on winches and how they work.

If you're riding with others that have winches I'd look at a set of tires first. My experience with the stock tires was bad, bias ply and didn't wear worth a crap, 3 flats in 200 miles. If you have a good set of tires you can get through a lot more terrain that the stockers won't.

Winch and skids were essential to me. The rest is icing ;)
