Yay.

Mosquito Ridge Road on American River Ranger District Is Now Open

Release Date: Jun 17, 2011

Contact(s): Chris Fischer, District Ranger

Foresthill…The Mosquito Ridge Road is now open to the LL Anderson dam at French Meadows Reservoir. Though the snow is quickly melting, the boat ramp and campgrounds at French Meadows are still inaccessible. When campground managers can reach the facilities, they will assess the situation on the ground and take care of any hazards before opening. Modification of the spillway at French Meadows is continuing, with people and large equipment working along the crest of the dam, and throughout the area. Traffic is controlled and confined to one lane through the work site. The public is urged to drive cautiously and be alert to signs and traffic signals. Work will be ongoing throughout the summer. Information about the spillway work can be located on PCWA’s website at http://www.pcwa.net/main/Spillway-Modif ... roject.pdf.

Wow, if you can't get to the campgrounds then I guess you still can't even get to here:

I think that was the lowest point in our ride out there. :(

The dam is 5260, the paved road there is about 5400. MR Road crests at 5980 just before passing the 44 road to Robinson Flat and dropping down to the dam. It will be interesting to see how things look.

That's what I told the pilot flying with me a few weeks ago....."hey...at least if they both eat fish, I know you can land this thing, so don't eat the fish." He laughed.
